About Takeshi Obata (小畑健)
In 1985, he was selected for semi-winned of the 30th Tezuka Prize in “500光年の神話(Myth of 500 Light Years)”.
He made his debut at the age of 17 and was good at drawing since high school.
By the way, the prize money when he was semi-winned was used up by his high school classmates.
The “CYBORGじいちゃんG” was published in “Weekly Shonen Jump” , 1989, and made its debut as a manga artist.
At the time of debut, his pseudonym was ”Shigeru Hijikata (土方茂)”.
Renamed to “Takeshi Obata” from “魔神冒険譚ランプ･ランプ” serialized in 1991, and since then, has been working as an illustrator mainly in collaboration with the manga author.
“Hikaru No Go” (1998-2003, author by Yumi Hotta), “DEATH NOTE” (2003-2006, author by Tsugumi Oba), “Bakuman” (2008-2012, author by Tsugumi Oba) have been made into a TV animation.
